I wrote these exact words onto a bright green Post-It after feeling utterly defeated.
⁣
It was the first sign that the so-called "relationship" I was entering into was never going to work. But I held onto it anyway because it was NEW. Because I sacrificed so much to get where I am in my writing career and wanted to start dating and LIVING for once no matter the cost.⁣
⁣
I didn't see past his pretty words for a long time. When he told me how impressed he was over what I'd managed to do with my writing and dream, it was the first time a man had ever acknowledged my success or showed interest in it. ⁣
⁣
My dating history was all but nonexistent when I met him. The others tried controlling me. Making me feel like my passion was some ridiculous thing. One called my writing a "hobby".⁣
⁣
So, when HE showed me interest in what made me ME, it was nothing like I'd ever felt before. I was hopeful. I'd latched onto the way he treated me. Answered his questions about my writing career. DISCUSSED what so many others deemed unimpressive. He validated my passion when so many others chose to try diminishing it. ⁣
⁣
But, in the end, those pretty words weren't enough. He knew exactly what to say and when to say it in order to get his way. He dragged on this endless cycle of empty expectations to use me for whatever he wanted. It was HIS way. On HIS time. All the time. ⁣
⁣
He manipulated me.
⁣
When I wrote the words above, I knew that it would spur a story I hadn't quite told before. But I wasn't ready to write it until months later - 6 months later when I ended things, in fact.⁣

That's how Stevie was born. ⁣
⁣
From the ashes. ⁣
⁣
And like me, she's learned from her past and is grasping onto a better future where HER happiness comes first before anybody else's. ⁣

In order to get through the pain of losing such an important person to her and help ease the pressure of becoming a stand-in mother to Ainsley, Piper begins hooking up with her roommate Easton Wyatt, who's an inked up, broody tattoo artist.⁣

Tomorrow is the home inspection for my house and is it weird I'm excited? I mean, I'm nervous about what could be found (though I'm sure it'll mostly be small, easily fixable cosmetic things) but mostly excited to spend time in MY place. The space I bought with MY money working multiple jobs, going to school, and chasing my dreams every single day.⁣

I've been bookmarking so many different pieces of furniture, décor, and other house things online since the offer was accepted and I just want to buy it all. But since I signed all my mortgage application paperwork earlier this week, I know I need to wait until the time is right even if I'm pumped to start decorating each of my rooms.⁣

FUN FACT: I used to want to be an interior designer because I love making spaces look pretty. I blame DIY and Home Network and my obsession for the video game SIMS ⁣🤓🏠

Anyway, I'm stoked for things to be a little more locked in and secure (i.e. making sure nothing is seriously wrong with the house and getting my mortgage approved) so I can show you pictures of the beautiful place that I'll be creating many future stories in! ⁣

I took yesterday off from writing and other responsibilities to go see Black Widow at my local theater, which is so worth seeing if you haven't already! ⁣

Random fun facts about me:⁣

1. I'm obsessed with Marvel. The only comics I've actually [read] from the MCU are the Spiderman ones (he's my fav) but I've seen all the movies and almost all the shows in the universe ⁣

2. I started out loving DC Comics because of Batman and have seen quite a few DC movies as well. And my cat? His name is Oliver Queen after DC's Green Arrow⁣ 🙈

3. Once I settle into the house I'm in the middle of buying (which is hella stressful) I want to adopt a dog from a shelter. I kind of want to give him a Marvel-themed name. Any ideas?! No clue what kind of dog it'll be but I imagine "Steve" or "Cap" might be a good fit for any...⁣
